Google has products in almost every range, from operating systems (for mobiles and PC version is soon to come) to to search engines where the hold the monopoly. But the messenger from the Google’s own stable has not really kept up to Google’s reputation of good products. The desktop version doesn’t support smileys, has a slow speed for sending files and the list continues. But for those who use the Google Talk generally, here is a list of Google’s bots that can boost up the quality of this software.
What are Google Bots? :
Google bots in simple English are like virtual friends who are online continuously and will always reply to your queries with a smile.
Bots :
1. imfeeds@gmail.com : Adding this imfeeds will give you the power to read any blog/website that sends content via RSS Feeds.
2. imified@imified.com : Turning GTalk into a powerhouse was never simpler. Features include posting on Delicious, Twitter, submit blog entries to Wordpress, manage events, run Whois, shorten long URL’s and so on.
3. friendfeed@bot.im : This bot allows you to post to post to FriendFeed directly from GTalk. Text and HTML allowed.
4. inezhabot@gmail.com : Inezha helps you to read feeds inside Google Talk but is a little orthodox. Like, you can type itechyou.com and it will show a list of all feeds of the website.
5. Translation : This is a free translaion service that translates any foreign language (not those rare African tribal ones) into any of your choice. Works the same as it’s online version. Eg. (e.g. hi2en@bot.talk.google.com for Hindi to English or en2hi@bot.talk.google.com for English to Hindi)
6. Twitter : Invite the famous micro-blogger Twitter to your Gtalk by adding it’s bot twitter@twitter.com. Now whenever you IM this friend, he will automatically post it on Twitter.
7. Set Task Reminders : If you need to remember something really important, just add timer to your Twitter’s friend list and then add xpenserbot@gmail.com. Now if you want a reminder after 30 minutes to buy chicken, just enter “d timer 30 buy fresh chicken from mart”
8. Xpenser : With Xpenser, you can record your expenses on the go. Suppose you donated $30 to Techaddicts.in, send a message like Donate $30 to Techaddicts and that will be put on your online spreadsheet which you can access later. Add him at xpenserbot@gmail.com
9. Ping.fm : This is a must download for all those blogging and micro-blogging freaks here. With this, you can communicate with Twitter, Wordpress, facebook, Orkut, myspace, linkedin, delicious and many more. Add this at pingdotfm@gmail.com
10. Meshly : Adding meshly@gmail.com allows you to post anything directly to your Meshly account!
Here, my top 10 list for Google Bots comes to an end. Hope you have subscribed to the blog to recieve updates about the new and amazing yet-to-come topics!
